CalVet HOME LOAN PROGRAM OFFERS ASSISTANCE TO VETERANS AFFECTED BY WILDFIRES SACRAMENTO, CA. OCTOBER 23, 2007 The CalVet Home Loan program, a service of the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CDVA) would like to remind veterans that CalVet home loans are covered for fire and hazard insurance (except for mobile homes and condominiums). Veterans with these loans who have been affected by the wildfires should contact Sams and Associates, the fire insurance adjustors for the program, at 1-800-626-1613. CalVet has also implemented mortgage relief assistance for veterans with CalVet loans. “These fires have created a terrible situation facing many thousands of Californians as they look to rebuild their lives and their homes. The CalVet Home Loan program will do everything we can to assist those veterans with CalVet home and farm loans,” said Tom Johnson, Secretary of the California Department of Veterans Affairs. The CalVet program will work with homeowners affected by the wildfires raging through Southern California either by delaying or reducing their mortgage payments in the case of hardship.
